Message from the President

Greetings!

Welcome to the Alabama Municipal Revenue Officers Association (AMROA) website.  Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your 2018-2019 President.  Congratulations, to all newly elected officers and board members for the year 2018-2019.  I look forward to working closely with you this year and know we will work as a great team.  We are looking forward to an exciting, educational as well as challenging year. AMROA, with a fiscal year that goes from July 1st through June 30th, was organized as a charitable and educational organization to promote Professionalism and Proficiency of Municipal Officials through education, training, and interaction with the exchange of information.   As revenue administration, collection and enforcement move in different directions, we must equip ourselves to adjust accordingly.  We must begin to focus on various solutions to keep local revenue solvent.  Letís prepare to get involved, seek knowledge, and understanding to be proactive with Revenue Solutions for our municipalities.  Whether we are small, mid-size or large; we all face difficulty collecting and enforcing.

We have several educational and networking opportunities to prepare ourselves beginning with a Certified Municipal Revenue Officer (CMRO) Program through the University Of Alabama College Of Continuing Studies.  This program is a two year period of studies that meets in October and April of each year in Tuscaloosa, AL at the University.  Upon completion, you will become a Certified Municipal Revenue Officer.

AMROA provides a Summer and Winter Conference that continues our exchange of information between Municipalities.  Our Winter Conference will be held in December (more details soon) in cooperation with Auburn University Center for Governmental Services.  The Summer conference will be held in July 2019 in cooperation with the University Of Alabama College Of Continuing Studies.  Please take a moment and check our links to get the detailed information on these and other valuable topics as they are posted.

If you would like to get more involved with AMROA, consider working on a committee.  We are looking for members on the ByLaws Committee, Membership Committee and Publicity Committee, just to name a few.  If you are not a member of AMROA, we invite you to become a member, get certified, and utilize the plethora of knowledge from across the State of Alabama through our Listserve (email), Conferences and Sponsors.  Share your knowledge and abilities as you draw from other AMROA members.  I look forward to working and sharing with you throughout this year!

 Sincerely,

Gwendolyn P Hall
AMROA President
2018-2019
